Leadership Skills My Team Wishes I Had When Just Starting Out

Regular Session

Many leaders on software teams get the job by default. They're the best or most senior developer and suddenly find themselves leading meetings, negotiating for resources, making strategic decisions their bosses don't understand and can't help with, and a whole range of other mission-critical activities that fall outside of the technical toolbox. Many of us make big mistakes when starting our leadership journey because the qualities that make us great developers can make us terrible leaders. In this fun session, we'll explore some of the common mistakes programmers make when leading teams, and introduce the most important concepts and practices that will help you be a successful leader. Join us. Your team will appreciate it (they asked me to tell you that).
