Taming the SVG Beast - What, When, How
TL; DR: You can programmatically edit images in the browser! Stop building 30 versions of the same image, and embrace SVG.
You’ve probably heard of SVG before, and you’re probably not using it in your everyday web development.
SVG is a standard that is frequently overlooked—the web community most likely just isn’t familiar enough with SVG for widespread adoption. This presentation aims to change that!
The goal of the presentation is to show you why you should be using SVG, and how to use it. SVG is always responsive. SVG files are significantly smaller and simpler than raster images (jpg, png, gif). SVG allows for extensive animation.
Most importantly, you can programmatically edit images in the browser! Do you have a green logo that you need to be white in certain places? This use case happens frequently, and is very easy to handle using SVG.
By the end of the presentation, you will know more about SVG than 99.999% of the planet. Wow! And knowing is half the battle.
