Improving code quality with Visual Studio and Roslyn Analyzers

Half-Day Workshop

The new .Net compliers since Visual Studio 2015 include the ability to expose the language services to allow developers to build their own analyzers and code fixes/refactorings. In this session we'll introduce you to the capabilities of the compiler platform and demonstrate how we can extend it to more proactively catch common coding smells and patterns that would have otherwise caused runtime exceptions that can be caught during compilation instead. If you've relied on third party commercial coding tools like resharper in the past, you'll see how you can build your own tooling extensions or leverage some of the many open source solutions.

This will be a hand's on hack type session, so bring your computers and ideas for tools that you would like to build. We'll start with some introductory demonstrations, but include ample time for working through some hand's on examples.
